Cannon Beach Writing Renewal

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.”
                                                              -Benjamin Franklin

Why not do both! After having one week of vacation from work I took a 4 day trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon to become trained to train teachers on 6+1 Traits of Writing. I was reluctant to spend my precious summer time away from my girls. Memories of our family trip two years ago flooded my mind throughout the week. A time when our family was smaller in a sense since little Amelia was on the way. Both trips to the Oregon Coast were fabulous but in different ways. After a few days of being embedded in writing dialog and never being eyesight away from the ocean I am inspired to write more, hence the blog restart up.
The accomadations were unlike any educator's trip I have ever heard of. Perfect place for a private room (also unheard of in my field), too bad I didn't know earlier and the family could have joined me! The stunning Surf Sand Resort was spectacular in every aspect. Gorgeous views of the Pacific Ocean and Haystack Rock from pretty much everywhere including my shower and bubble tub! http://surfsand.com/  Being just steps from the beach was wonderful. Each day I enjoyed runs and walks on the beach. We were pleasantly surprised by the blue skies, for the majority of the trip. Excellent food was provided for breakfast and lunch, dinners of fresh seafood were had at quaint restuarants. The streets of this hamlet were lined with gardens of flowers at least three times the size of the ones back home.  Such a relaxing and peaceful town.
3 minute Quick Write on A Night in Cannon Beach (no editing or use of I, and, a, or the!)
We sat on the beach in white Adironack Chairs
Feet buried in cold, soft, grainy sand
Black fleece blanket draped over my legs to keep me warm
Blazing fire crackled, produced heat, in center of circle
We roasted marshellows,
Melted Reeses' Pieces Buttercups on top of graham cracker
Placed on wood log beside fire
Delightful twist to the standard Smores
Moon shone above
Ocean gleamed with reflecting light as Haystack Rock loomed in backdrop
Deschutes White IPA in hand!
Looking forward to my next beach vacation to Cape Cod with the family!
