Beat the Heat Summer Vacation!

Jimmy was able to take a week off of work so we decided to head to the Pacific Northwest with our pop up trailer in tow. Our first stop was to beautiful Mount Rainier. The majority of the time we were visiting it was cold, rainy, and overcast. Luckily on our second morning we drove up and up and up this road and reached a place called Sunrise Point. To our surprise we had driven above the clouds and Mt. Rainier was finally in perfect view. We went for a nice hike to get an even better vantage point. We were so happy that we had at least one morning of clear skies while visiting this park.
After spending one more night at Mt. Rainier and walking up to more rain we decided to try our luck at the Oregon coast. The Oregon coast scenic drive was beautiful but once again it was cold, rainy, and overcast. We didn't mind the coolness factor so much but were hoping for a little bit of sunshine at the beach. The weather didn't stop us from sightseeing. Jimmy was very excited to check out Cannon Beach as he had visited as a child with his mom, siblings, aunt, and cousin one summer.

We were pleasantly surprised at the wildlife living on Haystack rock. The starfish were amazing, so colorful and huge.As you can see Adelyn got to ride on Jimmy's back quiet a bit this trip. This is a view of Cannon Beach area from above. The filming of Goonies was taken here!!

One of the campsites we stayed at was within a very short walk to the beach. Even though we couldn't swim or bust out the sundresses Adelyn still loved playing on the sand. The beaches in Oregon are not only rugged and beautiful but best of all they all allow leashed dogs on the beach, so Cooper was loving the walks on the sand.

As soon as we drove 15 minutes east of the coast the sun was shining and the weather was warm. On the way home we had a beautiful view of Mt. Hood. We had a wonderful first family vacation, getting the best of both worlds beach and mountains!
