I was happy to have finished my first 10K and felt pretty good knowing I ran it and didn't come in last place!
It was a gorgeous day for a run. I never thought I would run a 10 K, now that I know I am capable even in post baby shape I may have to run in another. Thanks Kate for getting me out there, it was fun!

First 10K
My longtime friend Kate asked if I wanted to run the Glastonbury Wellness 10K race with her on Saturday. I was reluctant to say yes considering I just had a baby 3 months ago, have only been running 4 times since (besides playing soccer), and have never run that far. Her asking was just the motivation that I needed to get out there. I figured that I have hiked that far carrying Addy so if I needed to I could always resort to walking.
The course was beautiful and hilly. It started at Nayaug School, where my mom works, and goes along the Connecticut River. There are many vegetable and tobacco farms along the way.
I ran the first 5K in about 30 minutes and was feeling pretty good. The second half I was mostly running by myself and surpringly I only stopped to walk twice. Once was on the last part of the course which takes you up a very steep hill, pretty much like running up Gharrett Street by our house in Missoula.
Kate's daughter Eleanor is so adorable. She was clapping as runners came in!
I found some hidden energy to sprint to the finish line so that I could make my goal of 1:05!
