Pacifiers

Adelyn's Grammie and Great Grandma will be happy to hear that she now is allowed to use a pacifier! It is recommended that babies who are breastfeeding are supposed to wait at least 4 weeks until they can use a pacifier. Supposedly they may get nipple confusion and then do not feed as well. So we waited almost 5 weeks before introducing a pacifier to Adelyn. At first she didn't want to take it, then she would take it but wasn't able to keep it in her mouth. Now the sucking on a pacifier seems to really relax her.
Everyone always seems to have a quirky name for pacifers. Some call it a Nuk (after the brand), some call it a beinke, our neighbor calls it a cork and my sister used to call hers a fier (fire)! So far we just call it a pacifier, maybe we are not creative enough.

These two pictures are of Adelyn with her WubbaNubs, which were given to her as gifts. For those of you new to this like me, they are a soothie pacifier attached to a little stuffed animal. She has the brown puppy dog and green froggie. Maybe we'll start calling her pacifiers a wubbanub!
